Post-Abortion Healing Retreats in Montana
A free, confidential weekend in the mountains of Montana
If you’ve had an abortion and you’re still carrying it, there’s a place for you here.
Wild Heart Ministries holds free healing retreats for post-abortive women in the Kootenai Valley of northwestern Montana. Four days, six women, and no cost to you. Every retreat is paid for by private donors and churches, so money is never the reason a woman stays home.
You don’t have to have the words for it yet. You don’t have to know where to start. You only have to be willing.
Who these retreats are for
Women come to Wild Heart for all kinds of reasons, and from all kinds of distance.
Some had an abortion last year. Some had one thirty years ago and have never spoken of it out loud. Some told one person and regretted it. Some have never told anyone at all, and have carried it alone through marriages, children, and whole careers while everyone around them assumed they were fine.
One in four women will have had an abortion by the age of 45. You have sat beside them in church. You have stood behind them in line at the grocery store.
If any of that is your story, this weekend was built for you.
You do not need to be a Christian to come. The retreat is built on Scripture and led by women of faith, and women of any background, or none, are welcome at the table.
Where we meet: Swanson Creek Lodge, Troy, Montana
The retreats are held at Swanson Creek Lodge, a hundred acres of meadow and forest at the base of the Cabinet Mountains near Troy, in the far northwest corner of Montana.
It’s quiet. There’s room to walk. There’s a fire, a kitchen, and a great room where six women can say hard things out loud without anyone overhearing.
You’ll have a real bed and real meals. Everything is included.
Women travel here from across Montana, and from much farther
Women come to Wild Heart from all over Montana. Kalispell, Missoula, Bozeman, Billings, Great Falls, Helena. From Coeur d’Alene and Sandpoint in Idaho, and from Spokane and across Washington.
You do not have to live nearby. If you can get to northwestern Montana, you’re welcome here, wherever you’re coming from.
Northwest Montana is a long way from most places, and for many women that’s the point.

Your privacy
Confidentiality is the reason this weekend works, and it is built into every part of it.
What is said at the lodge stays at the lodge. The women who lead these retreats have been where you are and they hold your story carefully. Nothing is shared, published, or repeated.
Distance helps too. A woman who drives four hours to get here is not going to run into her neighbor in the parking lot, and she’s not going to see anyone from her church. Several of the women who come each year choose Wild Heart for exactly that reason. If you need to heal somewhere nobody knows your name, that’s a good reason to come, and you won’t be the first.

Each retreat begins Thursday afternoon and ends Sunday after lunch. Six women attend each one, and no more than six.
What the weekend looks like
The retreat follows a study called Forgiven and Set Free, worked through in nine sessions across four days. Grief, denial, anger, depression, forgiveness, and acceptance, each given its own time and none of them rushed.
There’s teaching, small group discussion, private time to write and think, and time outside. The weekend ends with a memorial service on Sunday.

Is it really free? Yes. Lodging, meals, and materials are covered. There is no fee and no suggested donation.

How many women will be there? Six. Groups are kept small on purpose.
Do I have to be a Christian? No. The retreat is built on Scripture, and women of any faith background are welcome.

Who leads it? Women who have walked through post-abortion healing themselves, with training in post-abortion recovery.
